Hawker Hunter~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
707mm/ 28"
Motor:
480 brushed or brushless
Radio:
4 channel 3 micro servos
~Re-creating the most famous British jet fighter of them all - arguably one of the most attractive jets ever built - the West Wings Hawker Hunter retains that ‘character’ while keeping the design as close to scale as possible.
Flight performance can be ‘sedate’ if you use a good 480 class ferrite motor and 8 cells, right up to ‘ballistic’ with a brushless motor and 10 cells. Suitable fans include the Wemotec 480 Mini Fan and Wattage Fan Unit.
Designed for lightweight micro R/C (and a pair of wing servos that are no more than 9mm thick) the Hunter is not a beginner’s model, but perfect for intermediate and experienced pilots that can handle small, fast models.~New Product Item|553|~1260~1262~~
Fournier RF4~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
1753mm/ 69"
Motor:
400 EP or 0.049 IC
Radio:
2-3 channel micro servos
~A 60” span, lightly loaded model designed for an economic speed 400electric motor or .049 engine power (not included). The CNC cut parts allowfast and accurate building and most hardware comes as standard. Requiresmini/micro servos.~Fournier RF4|554|~1260~1264~~
Toucan~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
864mm/ 34"
Motor:
400 brushed or brushless
Radio:
3 channel micro servos
~One of the latest kits from West Wings, designed by Stephen Mettam the electric ace. Although compact, it turns out a brisk performance on a speed 400 electric motor (not included). Its dihedral wing allows the use of simple 3 channel R/C, but mini or micro servos are essential.~West Wings Toucan|555|~1260~1266~~
Beguine~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
1051mm/ 41"
Motor:
400 brushed or brushless
Radio:
3 channel
~A classic design from the pen of Steven Mettam. The Beguine is designed to be an ideal introduction to electric flight combined with classic ‘60s’ style and conventional built-up construction.
Just add a basic electric motor like the Topaz 400 and you’ve got a simple to fly model with superb flying attributes and a truly forgiving nature. What’s more, all you need is a simple three channel radio to provide the guidance.~Beguine|556|~1260~1268~~
Pinto~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
915mm/ 36"
Motor:
400-480
Radio:
3 channel 3 micro servo
~Using fully CNC cut components to add both accuracy and speed up the building process, the Pinto has been designed as a sports aerobatic machine so great care has been taken in the wood selection to ensure the right combination of strength and low weight. Ideal for basic, direct drive 400 class power, or add a hot 480 or even a Cobalt for high performance and a chance to ‘push the envelope’ and explore the Pinto’s true aerobatic potential. Designed for micro R/C gear with 3 servos and suitable speed controller.~Pinto|557|~1260~1270~~
Orion~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
1518mm/ 60"
Motor:
n/a
Radio:
2 channel
~The Orion makes an ideal way to start R/C modelling as a ‘hand launch’ sailplane with ‘micro’ gear, it can sniff out the smallest amounts of lift and exploit them to the full. Assembly is easy thanks to the fully CNC cut components which slot together in superb self-jigging manner.
Capable of accommodating ‘standard’ size radio gear, the Orion is however better suited to lighter micro gear so that the wing loading is kept low. Combine that with the efficient Eppler section wing and you have a versatile soarer that’s equally suited to flying from the slope too.~Orion|558|~1260~1272~~
Orion-E~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
1518mm/ 60"
Motor:
400 brushed or brushless
Radio:
3 channel
~Based on the incredibly efficient ‘Orion’ design yet modified to cater for the increased weight and size of the electric flight pack, the Orion-E is a great model to explore low lift conditions without the need to resort to glider launching systems.
Just a standard 400 electric motor and a 7 or 8 cell 2/3 A size Ni-Cd or Ni-MH pack will provide all the ‘urge’ necessary to get the Orion-E into the air with a spirited climb to boot! If you’ve been looking for a great second model - you’ve just found it!~Orion-E|559|~1260~1274~~
Skylark~
Type:
sport/ scale
Wingspan:
1828mm/ 78"
Motor:
n/a
Radio:
3 channel 4 micro servos
~The Skylark is a semi-scale model of the classic Slingsby original and is intended for radio controlled slope soaring, but prototypes have been bungee launched from flat field sites into strong thermals. Controls are rudder, elevator and ailerons, which require micro servos built into the wings. Construction is conventional all built-up and most of the parts are accurately cut by CNC.~Skylark|560|~1260~1276~~
